Journey Worm, Creek Play, and Leaf Piñata
This morning began with us listening to the birds and exploring the creek. We shared gratitudes at opening circle, and Quin was thankful for the trees and the wind. We also talked about the moon and the different phases of the moon. Then Miss Brinkley read a story about some forest animals. Today we had a lot of creative play with some camouflage games, rides in the "rainbow car" and fairy house building. Scarlet especially likes building fairy houses! Scarlett, Dan, and Miss

New Friends and Fox Canyon
A new friend joined us today! His name is Bodhi, and we had such a great time going on an adventure with him today. When we first entered the woods, we found some beautiful red and yellow leaves as well as some yellow flowers. We collected the yellow flowers, and Bodhi was really excited about this! He found about eight flowers. We brought our yellow flowers to Opening Circle where we smelled them and shared what we thought they smelled like. Peaches, lemon, yellow, birthday

Max the Snail and Animal Charades
A little friend greeted us as soon as we entered the woods today! It was a snail! This snail was very brave and continued to stay out of its shell while each of us took turns holding the snail. One of the children named him Max. There was a lot of water from the recent rains in the creek area, and we found lots of little yellow flowers in the ground. Each of us thought that the flower smelled like something different. We thought it smelled like chocolate, honey, and a couple

Fun After the Rain
We were so glad to see the sunshine after all the rain! It seemed that the birds were happy, too! All different kinds of birds were singing as we entered the woods this morning. We discovered that there was a lot of water in the creek, and there was even a little waterfall! We splashed around in the water and made leaf and stick boats. We also found some raccoon tracks! It was so interesting to see how the water moved when we shifted the sand around in the creek. We practiced

Leaf Boats, Sit Spot, and Raccoon Game
It was a beautiful morning with a clear blue sky and moisture still in the air from rain the night before. There were many new pools of water that we had not seen before! We splashed in them before heading further into the woods for our Opening Circle. At Circle we sang songs and shared our gratitudes for the day. Many of us were thankful for the trees and blue sky! We played a game called Raccoon Touch, which is a sensory game where a nature item is placed in one's hands and

Animal Games, Raindrops, and Storytelling
This morning began with a game that Alice created called foxes. We all pretended that we were foxes, and it was a game similar to tag. Alice really enjoyed walking like a fox! We ventured further into the forest and along the way we spotted all types of mushrooms! We even found one that had been nibbled. At opening circle we shared our gratitudes for the day and played a game called Raccoon Touch. The children were blindfolded while Miss Brinkley placed a nature item in their

Preschool: Fall 2017
We had such a fun adventure this week! Lucas brought his microscope, so this morning began with gathering items to observe with it. We looked at leaves, seeds, and what might have been a little egg sac. It was really fun to see things magnified! At the creek, Luiza found a great climbing tree. We played on the creek bank and found some animal tracks. Raccoon and a small canine. We practiced climbing on the creek banks and learned about testing the strength of roots before you
